As Ukraine marks its 31st Independence Day on August 24, Wednesday, the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) makes a stand for peace and lights up its historic structures with colors of Ukraine’s flag– blue and yellow.
After the 6PM Angelus of the university, the anthem of Ukraine is played then the National Cultural Treasures, the historic Arch of the Centuries and the Main Building, including the UST Chapel or the Santísimo Rosario Parish Church were all lit blue and yellow. The lights will be visible from 6PM to 9PM starting August 24 to August 26.

There were also flaglets of Ukraine displayed on the lamp posts, and the Ukrainian word for peace (мир) stood in front of the Arch.
The university organized these activities in hopes and prayers for peace in Ukraine and in the world, especially that the latter country has been in serious danger for six months because of invasion and attacks from Russia.
